A site to keep up with Thankful Heart, a gospel duo from rural Kentucky.
Thankful Heart is made up of Brenda Lawrence and Dana Lane, two women from rural Kentucky who have been best friends for more than 30 years. They taught together at Nicholas County High School, raised their children in Nicholas and Bath counties and have been singing together at churches, revivals and fundraisers for many years.
After Brenda retired in the Spring of 2006, the two have been pursuing their dream of singing gospel professionally. They've played numerous events in and around Carlisle and Owingsville as well as in Lexington.
This website launched on April 3, 2009. It was designed as a way to let fans keep up with upcoming Thankful Heart performances. It also allows people an easy way to contact Brenda and Dana to book them for events.
Thankful Heart is currently in the studio working on their first album. We are all very excited to hear what Brenda and Dana can do with the help of a professional producer. Check back here often to hear exerpts from the album as well as news about its release date.
Long ago during the days that Jesus was here on earth in the form of man there were many dogwood trees. The dogwood was comparable in size to the oak tree and other monarchs of the forest. Because of its firmness and strength it was selected as the timber for the cross, but to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree.
Sensing this, the crucified Jesus in his gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all said to it: "Because of your sorrow and pity for My sufferings, never again will the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a cross. Henceforth it will be slender, bent and twisted and its blossoms will be in the form of a cross two long and two short petals.
In the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints brown with rust and stained with red and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see this will remember."
