About Us
2006 is our inaugural year! Just like Minds Matter of New York, Boston and Denver, Minds Matter of Chicago is committed to offering bright and motivated students the opportunity to realize their full academic potential.
We are thrilled to announce the acceptance of seven sophomores from a total of three inner city high schools. By working with Minds Matter from the tenth grade until graduation, our students are able to enroll in a variety of college level courses to expand their horizons and gain first hand experience of what lies beyond high school. During their 1st year with Minds Matter, they will also receive writing and critical thinking skills, as well as PSAT training. Minds Matter will continue to grow with the students, offering a Junior Program next year (focused on entrance into summer college programs and SAT prep), followed by the Senior Program. The Senior Program is the culmination point - where we assist students with the entire college application process, including school selection, essay writing and financial aid paperwork.
We have successfully recruited 14 young professionals who are eager to volunteer as mentors.
